What a crowded opening day! I started right from the boat launch trolling along the west bank with a couple spinners. No luck. Had quite a time fighting the wind and dodging other boats. No problem though, as my actual destination was one of the points closer to the north end. I anchored up along the shore and tossed out some dough. Ran up on shore to take a leak, and put my foot in the water getting back into the boat. Not too much later while I'm drying out my sock and shoe, some moron cruises his boat no more than 15-20 feet from me and tangles up both my lines and all three of his. It was that kind of day! Once I got another rig back in the water, I finally caught an absolutely beautiful 20" rainbow that put up one helluva fight. I had so much respect for him that I let him live to fight another day. That was about 11:30. Packed it in and trolled back to the launch, this time staying more toward the center of the lake to avoid the traffic. No luck this time either. I did see quite a few people pulling up fish while trolling. I just didn't have the right setup. It was a nice day, even if really windy. I think I'll avoid opening day from now on though.
