Couldn’t pass up a nice weekend day so grabbed the gear and the daughter and headed for the lake. On the water by 6:30, a few other boats a the launch. AIS crew was out so had to go through the whole renewal. Also learned that if you take the online course for the discount, you have to do it again every year. So ended up paying full price. Trolled north from the launch, first fish on the boat within 10 minutes. Caught him off a flatlined Shasta Sling Blade with a hoochie baited with shoepeg corn and a little Anise. Water temp was 53 degrees so the lake is warming up. After that it went quiet for a couple hours, I could see the yellow bellies schooling up on the fish finder, just not on the end of my lines. Headed back for one more run around 10:00am landed the second and last fish of the day. Caught him off a blue dicknite dodger with a wedding ring tipped with shoepeg and Slamola . They were both around 12 inches. Fishing was a little slow but getting the first kok of 2017 and seeing the seven year old fired up about her fish to take home and show mommy made for a good day. They are schooling up and lake is warming up. i’m giving it a poor rating because I only caught a couple. In reality I’m pretty new to Kokanee fishing so low catch rate was probably from lack of experience. All in all great day on the lake, we weren’t even back home yet before the daughter was asking if I’d take her next weekend.
