I decided to head out solo to Clear lake in Thurston county this morning to catch a few trout. The weather was overcast. I arrived at the lake around 9:30 am. There was little to know fishing pressure on the lake,Three kick boaters, one guy trolling, and myself. I decided to use and orange and black smile blade, with orange and black bead body and a slow death hook tipped with a crawler. I set my line back about 150 feet behind the boat and down 10 ft on the downrigger. I got my rod set and was starting to let out my second rod that I was using a rainbow trout rapala style lure for top lining then boom downrigger pops and fish on! I was trolling all but 2 or 3 minutes. lol. Landed a nice rainbow and put it in the fish box. I turned around to see the top line rod was dancing. I reeled in another nice trout. I got the down rigger rod set again then as I was letting out the top line rapala, it gets nailed this time by a much nicer fish that was about 3 lbs or so. Unfortunately it shook the lure as I was trying to grab my net. I ended up catching three more fish, two on the rigger, and one on the top line in the next 40 minutes. I had my boat back on the trailer heading for the house at 10:30. I don't think the action could get any better!
