Hit Lake Boren the other night targeting planters. It was my first time back since late winter when the water was then, very dark colored. Much clearer now.
The other day was my first time out ON the water and not on a dock. I first targeted the edges of the lake with my Slip Bobber Jig set up and mainly the South End of it. I worked up the East Shoreline and then worked the Northend of the lake. Nothing but really small perch.
I then started to work my way back South and noticed a fish surfacing. I quickly coasted over and got a very fast bite, which turned out to be my very fish planted fish caught at this lake. I hung around the Northend and did some drifts headed South and picked up 6 other Rainbow's. Looks like I wasted plenty of time working the edges before the middle area.
I really found these Rainbows to put up a great fight for their size, which was about 11-12", but they also struck my lure very aggressively compared to some other lakes that I fish at. It made for a great fun night.
The man downside was hauling my Pontoon floats from the parking lot to the lake. Not fun to do even without the addition of oars, fins tackle bag, and your pole! Not sure how much for swing I will do there even though it's the only small lake near me.
Oh, funny thing going on at the dock as I watched or when by. I saw a guy hand line two fish in. No pole.
Interesting.
