Went camping at potholes for the weekend. We headed out the first day to Crab Creek, but didn't get anything. Headed to the rock pile, no bites. After a few hours of nothing, we headed in. Apparently, the fishing was blowing up from the shore of our campground. We were catching everything from walleye to catfish to smallies all day long on just a drop shot and a float worm. Second day we went out to Crab Creek again, and pulled in a nice trout and a good size walleye on super slow death and bottom bouncers. Had another one on, but lost him at the boat. The wind started to pick up, so we had to head in after only 40 minutes of fishing.
On the last day we caught more walleye and smallies from the shore, but the finale of the trip came at dusk when one of the daughters in our party hauled in a monster 28" male walleye on a snell hook with some "secret bate" that I can't divulge here. :)
Can't wait to get back out to potholes again soon! Great trip!
