Figured it was going to be absolutely nuts boatwise on Lake Washington this weekend so I went out on Friday to spend the day fishing. Launched at Coulon Park and headed to S end of Mercer island area. Only 2 other boats in the entire S end of the lake all morning long. They were fishing also.
I don't know what the deal is but just like my last 2 Lake WA trips out, I covered all around the South end of the lake from I-90 westside to I-90 eastside. Once again thru everything I had at them and nothing, not as much as a singe nibble. This is very unusual for Lake WA this time of year.
Spent the entire day from 8am to 530pm fishing and trolling. Next to nothing showed up on the fish finder all day. Once and awhile a large return would show up usually down deep from 80 to 130ft down. Surface water temp 60 degrees. Sent my Fish Hawk water thermometer down a couple of times to see what the water temp was below. It was 60 degrees on the surface and 47 degrees at 110ft. Biggest temp change was between 25 and 55 ft.
My guess is that this is what everyone is experiencing due to the lack of Lake WA trout reports. It was a beautiful 75 degree sunny day with a light breeze so it was just a great day to be on the water. Be Safe out there! -G
