Dick and I went out to fish some hotspots near downtown Portland. I had never fished in the area before so it was a great experience. Being one of the first days in 2017 that was mild, it seemed as if spring was finally here. Baiting up our Sure Spins we began to grind it out following the 18 to 25 foot depth line. We fish with ball weights on a 12 to 14 inch dropper attached to a slider. Below that about 18 to 24" of heavy mono attached to a clip. and to the clip we add another clip and leader to our baits. That way it's easier to insert a flasher if we want to. We fished straight up Sure Spins in medium chartreuse and green label size herring trolled at the typical 1.5-2 MPH. without any flashers both taking a nice spring king home. Off the water by 1PM.
