On the water at 5:15 to test theory that kokanee only bite early morning hours. Downriggers set at 25 feet, set-back 25 feet using trolling motor for 1.2mph. Lures were pink wedding rings with pink smile blades and garlic corn tipping hooks. First koke at 6:15 but was very small so it got to swim back to mamma. Fishing north of the island along with 20 other boats. Started picking up small trout that were all released. Between 9-11am picked up two kokes. From 11am to 12pm, hooked and boated another three kokanee mixed in with many nice size trout which were released. Called it a day at 1pm. Sun was hot and bright and the kokanee were still biting. Nice to know I don't have to get up early every time I go fishing for kokanee. Has any one tried fishing in the late afternoon or early evening for kokanee and done well?
