Walleye seem to have finally started biting. I had an idea for a lure set up I have been wanting to try out, I took a Perch pattern Oldgoat lure and rigged it with a Slow Death hook. It worked GREAT. I always enjoy it when a home made idea works and these Oldgoat lures are so versible the different ways to fish them seems to be endless. So far this year I have tested the Oldgoats on every species that we fish, both in lakes and rivers and they have produced better than I ever expected. It took a little while to find the fish, we started out in about 35 fow marking fish constantly but couldn't get any bites so we started heading in shallower until I picked up our first fish at 18 ft. then Evie picked one up at 16 ft. so that set our trolling pattern. We picked up fish from 12 ft. to 18 ft. and couldn't get any bites outside that range. The Walleye were hitting very hard but we had several that just seemed to spit it out when they got close to the top of the water. Evie fished with her hand tied Smiley blade slow death set ups while I fished my Oldgoat, the Oldgoat caught fish for fish with her traditional set up. The more I fish these lures the more I like them. Over the winter I stocked up on several different lures, flies and other gear with the thought I would test it all this year. My problem is the Oldgoats are so much fun fishing in different ways that everything else is still in the tackle box.

Bob: We absolutely appreciate the time you've taken to test the OG1 on a variety of species and waters. Your tests mean more than you realize--as a one-man-shop, I'm limited in terms of available time to hit the water.

Have wanted to test the lures on the walleye for some time. (That perch pattern has been very productive in Rock Lake for the steelhead plants and bows. Thought it might fish well for walleye. But, just haven't had the chance yet.)

Thank you!!

Donn: I am an Avid Walleye fisherman and would love to try your lures. Where are they available? I can go to Sportco/Outdoor Emporium, Bass Pro, Auburn Sports and Marine, Sportsman's Warehouse, etc.

eightballsaul you can get these lures from Oldgoatlures.com, to the best of my knowledge they are not available in any stores . Donn is very prompt about filling and shipping orders. buc these lures have incredible action from .5 to 2.25 mph, I havn't noticed any change in the action no matter which hook combo I try.
