I arrived Wednesday morning to a wind storm and a Reservoir that looked more like the Pacific! Waves crashing against the Dam wall and splashing up over the roadway means no launching! Ambient temps had dropped from the mid to upper 80's to 65*. I headed to town to kill time until I could check in at PSP. Got into the State Park and took a look at the launch about 2pm. I t had died down considerably so I decided to launch about 3pm. I hugged the south end of the lake and motored west into the wind and back into the "dunes", all which were under water!

I arrived at the Winchester Wasteway and caught a largemouth on my first flip! Not another bite until the wind kicked back up and I rode three footers all the way back to the launch. I knew the wind would settle the next day so I just called it dinner time and then hit the sack. Not overly impressed with this park I headed for the public launch Thursday morning and ran to the Crab Creek area. Got about halfway back and started fishing brush on the tops of submerged dunes. Largemouth were just about everywhere and could care less what I was doing. I worked as far back as I could as the water continued to warm as I did. Nothing changed. I tried everything twice in depths from 1 foot to 15 feet and couldn't buy another largemouth.

I fished a couple spots along the Dam wall on my way back to the launch catching a couple more smallies and pulled the plug on the trip about noon. Should have done this trip a month earlier but oh well. It felt good to get to the heat and sun and was fun to run around full throttle for extended periods of time on the big lakes.
