What a day. Took the granddaughter out to Lake McMurray for her first fishing trip. Got the boat in around 10am and spent a few minutes letting her row around in some sort of crazy zigzag pattern. Funny thing is that the fish must have liked it because it was fish on. She was having a hard time holding the rod and reeling so it was that Rainbow's lucky day. Almost immediately Papa's rod goes off and we get that one to the boat. Re-baited, put the electric trolling motor down and off we go. Another crazy troll pattern and her rod goes down hard. Thought she had a really big fish as it would take line but she would turn the reel handle and loosen the drag because it was a neat star thingy that turned. She got the fish in and then it was singing and yelling because of the echo she could hear coming back off the hills. Later she loosened the drag on her rod so all the line was out to the spool.Landed another and turned 3 or 4 back as we returned to the launch at 11:30. Giving it a 5 star day because nothing is better than being out on the water with your kids or grandkids and having them catch their first fish. Thanks Eevee.
