What a great day on the lake. It's always extra special when you're enjoying fishing with a youngster.
C. had fished quite a few times before but K & K had not fished with her previously. There were five of us in the Lund and it was quite comfortable (because we removed multiple tackle boxes, about 10 fishing rods, and made room for people and fish. LOL).
K. landed a trout within the first five minutes....off to a roaring start! We picked up T. and C. at the swim dock and T. couldn't believe there was one in the box already. We were hoping he and his daughter would have the same good luck. You hope the fishing is consistent to keep the young ones interested. We weren't disappointed. The most fun was when two nice trout got on C.'s new telescoping yellow rod and reel and she landed them on her own!
The back of the boat and T. was smelling pretty skunky but eventually he also got two trout and saved his reputation. All in all we caught and released 29 fish. Three tiny largemouth bass came aboard, one sunfish and the rest trout. I think the final tally was K. boated 11, P. boated 7, I got 7, and T. and C. each boated 2.
The lake was very busy. Lots of fishermen in boats and on shore, lots of kayaks, canoes, SUP.
The sub sandwiches were a good lunch, the visit to the concession stand for ice cream was a good intermission, good weather, good friends and good memories.
Take a kid fishing!
