Was on the lake 7:30 ish and put out the downriggers just out of Coulon launch. worked my way around the South end of Mercer Island and up the West side of the island. New electronics let me see what was not working. Would make a pass and if fish came up and looked but did not bite I would switch up. Used everything I had with no hits but lot's of looking by the fish, whatever they were. Colors, types, speed, and depth were all tried. No joy. Bagged it and went for Panfish by the Seahawks practice area about mid day.

Hit the usual area's and 'anchor locked' in place to try different things. Got some hits and caught five with two keepers. Tried a LOT of things before hitting on the 'magic' combo of a spotted Elgin God's Tooth with a thin 1" strip of brown with fleck power senco on the hook. Caught the five jigging, drift fishing and casting. School would appear and disappear. Hard to track and keep up with where they went.

Jury is still out on whether the new electronics were worth it. While it helps with some things I don't like that I end up glued to a computer screen instead of enjoying being on the water and just fishing... Amazing how you loose track of time and distance (think texting and driving) while glued to the screen.

I will put this here as the 'new' website will not let me log on to the forums with either my cell or this computer. This computer is the only one that can log on to reports, and it will not let me log off of them either... Weird.

Tracker,

Let me be the 1st to say, don't give in logging into the forums, or replying to reports/PM's, etc.

You need to delete the cookies on both your phone and any home computer you are using, etc. Do that, and then try logging in again.
I have on here for years, and with new website, it was only yesterday that I figured out the cell phone Cookies needed to be deleted.

TrackerPro16, I love my electronics. Many times it has put me on the fish. I replaced my 10 year old Garmin unit with a new Humminbird unit last year that does down and side imaging. Best choice ever. If I cruise by a bait ball that shows up on my side imaging screen I can mark it, turn around and cruise right back over it easily. I agree, I dont spend my day looking at it 24/7 either. I'm out to enjoy the scenery. Good luck with your new unit. You will probably be happy you upgraded in the end. Thanks for the Lake WA report. Be safe out there! -G

You may be right but at this point I believe I would have been better off spending the money elsewhere. I had a REALLY poor old tiny fishfinder before and now have a 10" color screen, down and side scan, plus the 'live action' sonar. While it IS fun and neat to use I still end up fishing the same places I fished before because, well, that is generally where the fish hang out. I found those by studying the paper maps. The detailed charts are cool on the new unit though! I will keep using it and playing with it. Not saying it does not work, it certainly does that. Saw one of the fish come up and felt the bite. That was fun. One thing that sucks is if I am running the 24v 80 lb bow mount trolling motor hard (4+) I get snow (bubbles probably) on the screen with side scan. Some of the other screens (traditional, down scan) the effect does not seem to be quite as noticeable.

Allright. I finally went and dumped the cookies (grumble, piss-n-moan) and everything works as it should...
