Wife and I launched at Keller around 10:00 for a fishing/sightseeing day. I had hoped to go down towards Swawilla, but there was so much debris in the water it wasn't safe to throttle up. I've never seen it so bad, with everything from sticks to large logs all over the water. We trolled up the lake instead, hoping it would be less messy above the San Poil, and it was much better. Trolled from 5 to 25 feet deep with leaded lines and downriggers, as well as flat-lined Rapalas. The small rainbows were biting, and we kept two that wouldn't have survived being released, and released one beautiful native that was probably around 3 pounds. Most of the bites were in the Hanson Harbor area in less than 50 feet of water. Pink hoochie and chartreuse hoochie with blades, orange Rapala, and Muddler Minnow all had hits. No kokanee found, and no concentrations of larger rainbows either. But any day of fishing is a good day.

Thanks for the report. I hope the lake clears up soon, the kokanee fishing turns on.

Have been doing the same thing you have for the past month and the trash is bad all the way back up to the spokane arm - been having the same
results as you have - what do you think about launching at spring cyn and working back up lake/river ??

If i were doing it over, I would have launched at Spring Canyon and worked up. The fishing is always better at the place you didn't go, right?

My experience yesterday with respect to debris in the water. Have to agree it's worst I've seen in my 11yrs fishing Roosevelt, but, there was a healthy snow pack, lots of spring rain, and runoff still coming into the system. Just have to live with it until all the "stuff" finds a shoreline. Thanks for your report. :-)
