Headed out of 7 Bays on our weekly, Tuesday kokanee search. Ran through the "minefield" down to South of Keller.

Orange and pink duckbill hootchies on planer boards .One of Dave Browning pink flies with spinner added to it on a long line with a section of leaded line added. Pink Apex on a downrigger at 25 ft.

Tried to hug the south side rock wall, but dodging debris was a real obstacle course. We did pick up a couple native rainbows and a gazillion 8 to 10 inch net pen rainbows which we taught a few to swim as you couldn't even see them bite.

Came back up to Hanson Harbor and marked a ton of fish, but don't know if they were the hatchery fish or what they were. No bites. Ran across from HH to the north rocks and trolled down back towards the Goat farm and got back into the net pen fish. Between the debris and donating bait to the little fish we called it about 2 o'clock. Back through the minefield. It will be a great day when the water isn't mixed with wood anymore.

We still haven't found the Kokes. Who'd a thought a guy should have fished every day last year.

If you are coming a long distance, at least bring your Sturgeon gear, we could find them.

I think you were launching when we were retrieving - we fished the same place with almost the same gear with the same results - persistence and
optimism are becoming difficult to maintain - they have to be outtheresomewhere !

We have pretty much thrown the kitchen sink at them. I guess if they aren't there, they aren't there. Feels like we should of at least snagged one by now.

I don't care to catch sturgeon, way too fragile fishery.

weld22 - if there was/is any humor in our efforts these past few weeks it has to be the recent release of the very small rainbows from the pens - they're
so small they can't get their mouths around the #2 hooks we use predominately in LR - all they can do is try to grab a piece of worm or corn - we've
only snagged a few of them on the treble stinger and then toss them back and up the troll speed. With the spring and summer salmon seasons a
bust, including sockeye, we're pretty hard pressed for new places to go - next up seems to be the west side in August - seems time to work on the
house and garden, much earlier than planned - good luck and keep trying, will look for a positive report. I'm too used to sturgeon fishing on the snake and Columbia below McNary to try LR.

2-3 times a week last year, 1 a week this year, my yard has never looked so good. LOL I don't know how fast and furious the sturgeon fishing is down south, but 6 fish on and 3 keepers in three hours doesn't seem to shabby on Roosevelt. It was a blast. Good luck to you, as well on the Kokes.

Made it as far as haystack rock yesterday but that was as far as I wanted to go with all the crap in the water. Going to be a while before it all clears out. Our luck yesterday was about same as yours, recent net pen fish are hard to stay away from. They're pests right now, but will be next year's keepers. Thanks for your report. :-)

Fished Saturday - Tuesday. Launched at Spring Canyon and fished Swawilla Basin. Had to navigate a veritable lumber yard to fish there as well. Brought home two nice clipped RB on Saturday and released 2 or three wild rainbow. Sunday I was also king o the tiny rainbows hooking and releasing probably 13 or 14 - came home with the box empty that day. Monday my tactics and luck finally changed for the better. Had my limit of 3 pound kokanee plus a bonus clipped rainbow and released two plus size redbands by 6:15 AM then headed to Banks to search for walleye. Tuesday I managed a kokanee limit as well but both were next year fish. One from Swawilla of about 13" and one from plum Point at about 15". Blew out one of my trailer tires retrieving the boat at the Spring Canyon launch which setback my travel home by about 2 hours by the time I changed out the spare and then went and bought new tires at Schwabbies to get me back over the hills to home on the west side.

Thanks for all of the posts! When I'm coming from so far away to take my shots at these fish all of the information y'all share helps me make the best of limited time on the water.
