Started at 11am and finished at 6pm. Super day. Mostly cloudy which kept it from being overly hot. Jacket weather. Light wind....more tolerable than normal. Busy lake with recreational boats, kayaks, SUPs and a few fisherman but they were mostly off the swim beach and rental dock so felt rather like we had the place to ourselves. Eagles were watching us fish.
Within minutes of leaving the ramp - fish on! K. was the leader and finisher - catching and releasing 20 fish.
(17 trout, 3 bass). Me, 19 fish. (4 bass, 15 trout). P. 15 fish, (3 bass, 12 trout). Two of the trout were cutthroat, rest rainbows. K. caught the largest fish of the day; a fat 14" cutthroat. P. was a slow start but middle of day started coming on strong (after he copied our successful lures. LOL) Two times, we had a double header on. Marking very large fish 20-25' feet, probably kokanee.
One time my trout dove over K's line. Landed the fish, but what a mess. It was great to see the largemouth bass starting to move a lot more since just last week. They were all small but we love them and saw tons of them schooling.
Had an outstanding hamburger picnic and enjoyed lots of laughs. Can't ask for too much more with 54 fish caught and released.
