so I have been meaning to get to Banks Lake and Sunday the 18th I took the camper and boat and went to Barker Canyon. It is off Highway 174 before Grand Coulee. The road going to the Lake is 5 miles of gravel and wash board road most of the way. It is steep in some places. This is the first time I took a boat down the road but it was OK, very dusty . When I got there I found a great spot to camp next to the Lake a short walk from the Primitive launch.

I got out on the water about 6 am Monday morning, surprised that more fishermen were not out early. I started a few about a hundred yards off shore in about 18 feet of water. I trolled for a while and picked up a perch and got a few bites. . It was getting hot and I took a break and went back out after lunch and right away caught a very nice 20" walleye in about 34' of water using an Old Goat Lure.. so not long after that I put my other OLD GOAT LURE on the other pole. Not long after I hooked another 20" Walleye in about 22' of water out by the low spot there in the middle of Barker Flats..

I quit soon after as it was HOT WEATHER!!!. Thank goodness for my Honda Generator and the air in my Camper!!
The next morning I went out and got a nice perch again by the Island there at Barker and caught a couple of small walleye using the Dutch Fork crawler Harness ghost blade, that I released. I tried a few other spots but the wind came up and by 2 pm it blew most everyone off the water. All in all it was a very nice camping fishing experience. Barker Canyon is not for every one but I love the fact that there were no other campers even close to me and it was free dry camping. I will go there again when I can. The launch is very narrow. I only kept the 2 bigger walleye . Some people were saying it was very hard fishing compared to Saturday. I must agree.
