Decided to take a new approach to fishing Lake Sammamish, no bait/no scent/C&R all. After fishing for about 3 hours, with nothing to show for my efforts except two perch, I was beginning to think my new strategy might not be such a good idea.
Scratching my head a bit, looking at setup and then it occurred to me, that for no apparent reason, my leaders were exceptionally long. Hmmmm. Chopped the leaders to 18", dropped the lines down to 25 feet and BANG! Brought 5 nice cutties to the boat in the next 45 minutes. Not sure if I just got the setup right or suddenly stumbled into a cutthroat convention. Managed to C&R three but the other two insisted on coming home for dinner. (both bleeding).
I think the new strategy worked pretty good. Think I will pinch barbs next go around and park the downriggers just for added suspense.
Used the setup in the pic, 1.8" Old Goat in a new silver pattern, 18 inches behind a Sling Blade flasher, no bait/no scent, speed 1.5-1.7, about 75 back and 25 down. Marked hotspots. At least they were hotspots on Wednesday.
Old Goat has several new colors coming out in the 1.8 inch . I havent had a chance to try them all yet but the pink and the silver sure work good.
Tight Lines
