Launched about 7:30 am and headed north from the Dam. I wish I could report that the debris in the water is cleared up,but it's still out there. It has thinned out a bit but you still have to watch for it, I don't recommend opening up the throttle...unless you have a prop that can chop wood. There is a little beach in some places so if you are planning a 4th of July trip to fish or play on the water use caution out here. The water level is up near normal and the water clarity is very good.

So hmm the Kokanee are still elusive. We chased them all day but sorry to report none landed by us. We did catch a lot of fish and the weather was beautiful. I tried several different trolling flies with a #2 wiggle fin, apex's, hoochie's and wedding rings, we tried with no dodger and then I tried a few with a dodger. Dad tried his favorite needlefish and his orange Rapala. No big silver's, we fished depths from 20' to 100', they were all over the map but not biting. The fish finder is nice and I like to call it the onboard t.v. but sure is frustrating watching all the fish come and check out your down rigger and your lure then just swim away! Dad and I both caught a silver but they were the size of the new release net pen fish, so we let them go. I lost count of the new releases we caught, we could have filled a stringer easily, but they did give us something to do. Several times I had two on at the same time. A few were discovered when I would reel up to change gear. They are so small they don't release the line from the down rigger so you wind up dragging them around. I did catch a really nice Rainbow, he was a couple ounces shy of 3 lbs. but I have never seen such a pig of a Rainbow, wow he was chubby and he gave me a good fight. Dad caught several Walleye on his favorite orange Rapala. I caught a small one ( not fishing for Walleye) on a gold apex behind an antique Storlaksen brass fishing spoon I was using for a dodger. The Walleye were caught doing everything against all the expert advice on how to catch Walleye, mid-day, clear water, trolling 1.4 to 1.9 and not really using Walleye lures, at least not the usual ones. We talked to a couple other boats as we passed, I think one boat was fishing for Bass and Walleye, the other was fishing Walleye and had one fish in the boat. Overall a great sunny day on the water and enough fish in the cooler to rate a pretty decent catching day.

Thanks for the great report. The best decisions are made with the best information and your reports are loaded with good information. What depth finder do you use? I have a Lowrance HDI7 that I like when it works but it freezes up on me several times a day. Sent it in for warranty but they didn't find anything.

Hey thank you...I try to include as much as I can in my reports. When I read some reports I wish they would tell me what they used, speed they were going, etc. It helps to know what other's are catching fish on. As for the fish finder I know it's a Lowrance and I think it's the HD-12? it's Dads as is everything, the boat, the rods, I am just the company! If I touch the screen I mess it up...lol
This one freezes up from time to time in windy conditions when we are along the rocky banks, I guess it gets confused trying to keep up with the depth changes on the bottom. Sometimes it locks on to one of our down riggers and won't come back unless we turn it off then on again.

Thanks for the report. We haven't found any Kokanee either. My Lowrance 12 gen 3 will do the same thing on really steep rock bottoms. I think it shoots the return signal out sideways when the angle is great enough. Pancake type downrigger weights will help with the signal locking on the weight. Been there , done that. Have your dad try 17 or 18 on his ping speed if it's locking up. Helped mine.
