2nd time out on the lake this year. Water looked like perfect conditions when I pulled up. I started fishing quickly not too far away from the launch. First cast was right at about 8:30. It didn't take me long to land a few dinks ~10". I start tossing a swimbait towards shore at docks and other targets. I feel a strike and set the hook. I get a flash of green turning sideways, then the lure comes flying back at me. Looked like a decent LMB. I follow up with a worm, jig, and the swimbait, but it no more attacks. So far, I'm noticing I'm getting more action in the shallows. So I tie on a shallow crankbait too and start working the area.

I get close to a point that I haven't had success, but I always try it once in a while. Nothing out on the point, so went shallow. Pitched a DS on the inside weedline next to the dock. Felt a tick and set the hook. Feels like a decent fish. I get a quick glimpse and at first thought, it was a squaw, but then it's clear it's a SMB. ~17" but skinny profile. Weighs 2.14#.

Then caught a nice look rockbass afterwards. Fan casting a swimbait right after the rock bass and I miss a strike. Follow up with the DS and bam! Another nice 2# SMB.

Suns is burning off the cloud cover, but action was still consistent.

Moved to the other side of the lake. There were these exposed pilings up shallow. Tossed my swimbait and bite within a couple rotation of the reel, get a solid strike. Hey, a decent LMB! Play with it a bit and got the scoop! About 2 1/4 or 2.5#

Now I cant remember which lure I tossed out, it was either the DS or swimbait, but it was into super shallow water. A couple of rotation and set the hook on a solid fish. It stays down. I pull away and get it out into safer water and see it's a big SMB. Looked like a tank in the water. Watched it go back and forth, ripping drag a few times, hoping it wont come unbutton. Scoop and woot! It's in the net. Long and skinny. Almost 20". Weighs only 3.34#, but should push 4# in normal conditions.

And that it was like that for most of the morning. Probably close to ten ~2# range SMB, and another ten under 12". It was a blur. Lost track my count and how I caught them.

Do remember having another nice ~3# SMB come unbutton at boatside as I'm ready to scoop. Barbless hooks are a blessing and curse for my DS. I remember one of the larger 2# SMB. I was in shallow water making a long cast sort of parallel with the bank, but into deeper water with the swimbait. I let it sink for a couple of seconds and start reeling. I immediately feel the strike and set the hook at the end of this long cast. That fish shoots up out of the water like a torpedo. Put on quite the show for me. Jumped a few more times. Expected the swimbait to come flying back at me any second now, lol. But I won the battle with that fish.

Fishing did slow down by 11:30, but I still managed to catch a few for the next hour. Called it quits by 1PM.

On way back to launch, stopped off at Fart Hole for a few mins. Caught a dink and called it good. Bite just seemed to have died down after 12:30 for me.
