We decided to hit Tanwax to catch some of the 5lb rainbows they planted for the derby two weeks ago. As we trolled away from the dock, within 5 minutes, I had a small 10" rainbow released. We decided to start near some lily pads where we've had success and on my first cast I catch a 12" bass. The morning was slow and the fish did not come easy but my next fish was a 6" perch. We tried many different methods to catch the big trout but they were not interested. We did eventually get five or six 12" trout in the boat but nothing noteworthy. I also caught a crappie and another perch along with those rainbows. After several hours on the lake we decide to call it a day but not before tossing a small crappie jig back at the dock to try for the 5th species of the day. I caught a couple bluegill and crappie on my ultra lite rod to round out the day.

For starting out so slow it ended up being an interesting day. I've never caught so many different species in one day. We may not have landed the big fish we went here for, but it was definitely a good day on the water.
