Second time fishing the Sky and skunked badly. It seems that a lot were skunking too....

I got to a spot about 3/4 - 1 mile downstream from Reiter ponds (south bank) at about 5.45. As i arrived, three anglers were leaving - two floating with jigs and 1 fly. They got nothing, saw nothing. I worked the stretch for about 2 hours with blue fox, flying c's and such like. Zip. Just as I left, a guy turned up and he has been fishing for 5 days and caught zippy dee doo dah. He had one hit further upstream, so I explored to where Steven's crosses the bridge (by Mt Index road). Looked nice and fishy. Hit it for 45 mins. Blanked.
I started going back downstream to make my way to Reiter (south side). As I arrived, a guy was leaving (c.10am by now). He had been there since 3am and got nothing. He said there was very little action and didnt see anyone catch anything. I decided to go all the way to Sultan and try there for a few hours. THere were about 10 rods on the bank with no catches.
Everyone I spoke to (about 10 people in total) has said fishing has been really really hard this season. Also that the water is very very high for this time of year. Do you think it may be that the fish are waiting a bit for running upstream?

In my opinion I think fish are in there but with the faster water then normal they are fighting current and not interested in biting anything. Just my opinion as this has been a bad year for most on the sky

Do the hatchery publish numbers on how many have returned compared to at year?
