Sorry for the late report. We fished both Friday and Saturday nights at Loon.
Friday Night: Got on the water around 8:30 and my brother in law Dan in my boat and nephew was in his boat with his friend also named Dan. We anchored in 34 feet of water on the Granite Point end of the lake. Looks like most of the "fleet" has moved up around mid lake on the high way 395 side. I have not seen any reports so I don't know how they are doing up there. We started catching fish around 9:00 pm and the bite was consistent with nephew's boat limiting just ahead of ours. We got off to a slow start because the battery I was using to run the lights died and I ended up having to run off the boat battery. Last fish was caught around 11 PM. Maggots and pink shoepeg corn did the trick.
I took my wife Diana out Saturday night for some more kokanee action. She had me down three fish to none when we started. Guess that's what I get for teaching her how to do it. As always the kokanee are a riot to catch. They run for the top and jump around like crazy. If they come unhooked they may hit the boat, lights or just plain go nuts! We managed our twenty fish limit by midnight. A little slower than the night before but still great fishing. Warm nights and a full moon; it was truly beautiful. A great "date" night with my wife.
Enjoy the summer, life is good - Alan
