Put in a Potlach around 530 and dropped 2 pots near the park, then headed toward Union and put 2 in near the mud flats. Tried 30 to 80 FOW. Pulled the pots near the park in an hour and nothing. Moved back to the flats with them. Pulled the other pots and had some vary small crab in the pot at 30'. Spread pots around 50 to 90 FOW. after 5 hrs with pulls every hour all we got were a few small crab, a few F crab and 2- 6' M. I usually do well at these depths so I have 90' of line on 2 pots and 130 on 2. I only saw 4 other pots in around 130 to 150 FOW. The fish checker said I should have been 120 or more. Need to bring more line next time. Chicken and fish used as bait.

My parents have a place on Hood Canal North of Lilliwaup and crabbing has been in a downward trend for a while now. We are still catching, but not like we should. On opening weekend we crabbed hard for two days and found 12, on fourth of july weekend we crabbed 4 days and ended up with around 20 total, only thanks to finding 8 or 9 on the last day.

We fish two pots with 100' and two with 150'. All but 2 or 3 of this year's crab have come out of the deeper sets, but that can change as the season goes on. Would probably be worth combining some ropes in the meantime though.

Now that crabbing is open in area 7 south i think i will stay home for most of my crabbing. We found 15 beautiful keepers (plus a few we had to throw back since there were 3 of us)
within 4 hours of launching last weekend. Hardly seems worth the effort in area 12

We crabbed out of Triton Cove last Friday and Saturday. Only caught 3 keeper red rocks in 2 days. Only saw 1 Dungy in 2 days of crabbing (female). Reports from everyone I talked to were dismal with many boats getting plain skunked.
