Stayed at the Winona Beach Resort for three days to do some fishing and family camping (a little spendy but they had plentiful docks for mooring near any camp site). I had heard that there was supposed to be some good bass fishing to be had here so I was looking forward to the trip. But alas, raging hot weather and lack of lake knowledge combined for only mediocre results. We caught about a half a dozen each day (mostly under 10") with only 3 breaking the 1 1/2 lb mark. The highlight of the trip was a 2 pounder that hit a topwater at last light. It was dark enough that I wasn't sure he'd taken the lure until I felt the pole bend! Anyways, I found lots of good looking structure but just couldn't establish a good pattern. I'll rack this one up to the heat and will try the lake again in the fall.
