With the heat of Summer in full effect and that usually causing bass to find shade/vegetation or deep water I decided to go to Beaver. Deep fishing is not a strength of mine and beaver's deepest spot is about 8 feet, so it made sense. Got out about 3pm and worked the bank running the road flipping in open pockets in the pads with no success. Made it to the far left bank and just started flipping in front of the floating reeds and got a little guy on my first flip, using a black n blue craw with a 1/2oz weight. A couple more flips later I flip it out there and I'm watching my line still going.. thinking that's weird cause it's only about 4' deep. So I just set the hook and it's just solid weight, then she dart's under the floating mats. I'm in for a battle. Put my rod tip in the water and try yanking her out from under it and finally comes darting out but goes under my boat now..so now I'm trying to get her out of there. The fight was intense and so much fun . I finally get her to open water where I got more of the advantage and she finally tires out. 6.4lbs. I continue down the bank getting a little guy here and there. I continue to just work that same bank for the whole time cause it was protected from the wind and other parts of the lake are so vegetated you can't even run your motor. On my 3rd trip back down I decide to work the think pads behind me. Flipping in the little open pockets and getting little nibbles here and there but not hooking them. Then I flip near a set of isolated pads and feel the slightest tick so I set the hook..fight on. Tail splashing and pads flying I got another big one...A pad panda. She went 5.4 . Fished until about 8 with a random small one here and there. What a day
