Had the chance to join my uncle for some cutthroat fishing on Lake Sammamish. Arrived at the lake around 6:00am and started fishing around 6:30ish in the middle of the lake past the weather buoy. Our setups were a Rocky Mountain tackle 5.5" dodgers in the color Bahama mamma and silver ice. 14-16 inches of leader down to a Reli Lures Diamond Flash Spinner in 50/50 Silver and Ruby Red color and also the Reli Lures Kokanee trolling flies in color Cotton Candy did well. The other rod had a Gods Tooth Kokanee rig 14-16" of leader to either a pink top or 50/50 Gold color by Elgin Fishing. Both rigs tipped with a piece of nigh crawler. Also fishing 40-50 feet down, trolling about 1.5-2.0 mph with 50 foot setbacks. Took a while to finally find where the Cutthroat were and what depths they were biting at, but I'd say 20 minutes in first fish on at 50 feet! Netted that fish and threw him on the ice. Hit and misses for about 30 minutes and decided to move towards the middle of the lake in around 80-120 feet of water. Bam!! Another hook up! He didn't stay on long but it was a nice fish, I'd say right around 17-18" long! Once we moved down lake we finally hit the pod that we were looking for all morning! That's when doubles were the norm and limited out relitively quick! Managed to pull in our limits in about 4 hours and hooked around 14! What a great morning on Lake Sammamish and can't wait to do it again! Tight lines everybody and hope to see you on the water!
