Had a chance to get out and fish at Fish Lake while camping nearby last week. Got on the water early, only to find small white caps blowing in from the East. Hugged the bank in my small boat - working docks, reeds, weed lines, and rocks piles for bass. It wasn't easy to keep the boat in position, or to cast perfectly to a spot...but I hung in there. About an hour into the day I finally got a decent strike - and a 4 to 5 pound, fat healthy largemouth bass. Caught it on one of my own 7" hand poured worms...and released it gently back into the lake. An hour later, fishing in about 5 feet of water on a weed edge, I hooked a giant 23" rainbow trout on my bass worm. The bass pulled harder, but the trout jumped more! After an amazing few minutes, I boated the biggest rainbow of my life. Dinner for the whole camp! I almost gave up fishing after fighting the wind so long...glad I didn't. Keep fishing - never stop!
