Hit Stevens about 545am to target some smallmouth. We were using various tactics through the morning including topwater, senkos, rapalas, and deep divers. Had bites from perch all over the lake on most casts, landed about 30 or so between the 3 of us. We found broken shads were working very well for landing perch. Tossed it near the end of a shallow dock about 4 ft of water and felt a tug. Thought it was a perch till it started peeling line. Lipped a nice 3lb largemouth on the broken shad crawdad color. Barely had it hooked in the lip on only 1 of the hooks. When I reeled it in another 3lber or so followed up all the way to the boat. Let em go for another day. First largemouth on stevens. We trolled deep diving lures on the way back to the launch 15 to 25 ft of water. Picked up more perch and a decent 1+ lb smallmouth. Nice cool morning to be out on the lake.

Great report and a great Largemouth. I'll try for him next year when he is 4 pounds. Ha.

Most were pretty small. The biggest by far was caught 20 ft down on a deep diver. We had perch all over anywhere we fished from 3 ft deep to 30 ft

Yeah, Stevens is loaded with perch. We've always struggled to get the bass due to swarms of perch attacking everything we toss out.
