Well we turned a negative into a positive last Saturday. My son got a raft with trolling motor and was excited to take it out. I was like sure lets go. Didn't take my boat out because I sold it and in the process of looking for another so the heavy duty raft was it. Trolled from the boat launch to the backside of the lake picking up two rainbows. Lost one at the raft. Threw the one trout in the cooler and trolled some more until the battery died. Back side of the lake with no power. Had a solar 12 volt charger on there so I said lets just pull into this small cove and recharge until we can get enough juice to power to other boat launch and get out. I set up my rod and soaked some bait for trout while my son casts for bass. Nothing going on so my son found a small minnow maybe 3 inches dead on the shore. He tied it on a circle hook with no weight and through it out and within 5 minutes his rod was bent over. Nice cat. Smallest of the day at 2.63. I was like damn dude that's crazy. reeled mine in and switched over to same set up and decided what the hell lets gut this trout and use for bait. Fish on and another cat. Kept using the guts and gills for bait and ended up using the rest of the trout and caught a total of 7 cats from 2.63 to 5.5 pounds. Turned a bad day into a great day of fishing. Yes we made it back or under oar power!
