The fish are starting to appear in the river. I didn't spend much time out this evening (my son broke his pole). I saw a few fish jump. The guy next to me had on one the line but his line snapped. 6lb line may not be enough. I was using pink squid and so was everyone around. I will be excited to be back out this coming weekend. Things are picking up now. I have had reports of other catching fish but not limiting yet.

I was fishing off of Short School road off of the rocks near the main fishing hole. I went back out on the 18th and went to Thomas Eddy. There were fish running and you could see many jumping but they were not biting. I went between noon and 3pm. It may just have been a bad time of day. I didn't see anyone catch anything.

Looks like pinks will be a bust this year. If you look at the reports from the ocean to Neah bay into the straights the run peaked two weeks ago.

I wpuldnt consider a total bust. While I do agree we probably wpnt see huge numbers like in prior pink years I believe the main reason you dont see huge numbers in the creek reports is that most are not targeting pinks as they're is no bonus bag for them. The numbers out of seiku are where I would have expected it due to the restrictions on them. Basically just one or two per boat if that. I myself wouldnt be targeting them if I had to choose between pinks or coho.

I'm not giving up that easy. I will keep going until I catch something. I see the fish rolling in now. It appears the season just started.

I have talked with multiple people who said they have not been seeing them as usual in the straights. It was a drought year two years ago so I would not be surprised.

Yea I also think it's a lot smaller run especially with the heat and low water they encountered but one should hope for the best and maybe they show up in a decent enough run
