5 days fishing with no catches now. The river was extremely slow in the evening yesterday. The only fish I saw jump was when the guy next to me got one on the line. He and his buddy were so excited to get it to shore. While trying to net it the line slacked and the fish swam away. It was painful to watch. He was using a pink squid. So there is hope for jigging. It seems that the people who have the most luck are the ones who can cast it into the swift part of the river. The fish are not stopping to say hi. They are on a mission to survive.

I did talk to a few others who came in and each of them had caught around 1 fish. The day of the eclipse seems to be by far the best day on the river that I have seen so far. I will be back out Friday morning to try again. I am not giving up.

Keep on fishing!

Any idea how far up the fish are now? Have any made it past the tidal areas to river proper?

The fish seem to be all over. Just noticed most of them in the swiftest part of the river. Just make sure you can cast into the fast part of the river or find a friend with a boat.

Tried the lower Sky (Tuesday late afternoon), saw some surfacers, got a quick bite. Nothing great!

I fished the lower river today and caught 15 fish in 2 hours right when the tide changed. Got a buck that weighed 8.2 on the digital scale. 2 hens 5.5 each. I was sweating the action was so fast and furious. The water would boil and it was fish on. I have a ray marine Dragon fly and it was like watching the fish window at Bonneville. There was a steady stream of fish the whole time. I had 5 or 6 follow each one I hooked to the boat. I use Anise oil on my hootchies.
