Went to lake Spokane to check out the Avista boat-in camping spots today. I love to spend a lot of time every year on lake Roosevelt camping at the boat-in only spots. It's peaceful, extremely quiet, and... far away. the thought of good boat-in only camping this close Spokane was enticing. Since this is a fishing report, not a camping report, I'll just say this: No way! Hot, crowded, loud.

We put in at the Lake Spokane Campground. Discovery Pass and $7 launch fee were needed. The lower parking lot is TIGHT! The launch lanes are barely wider than the trailer, and the parking spots are similar. The only way to get into a spot was to back the trailer in with parked cars in front, and trucks and trailers on each side. Not being my specialty, that took awhile to get just right.

After checking out the sites we swam, fished, explored. It was a good time, and the fishing was drop dead easy. The Frisky Jenny with scent and a pink squid (because it was already rigged) with scent or with worm did not work at all. Switching to a Kokanee (silver/pink) Apex and a Rainbow colored Apex with worm (both with a dodger) brought them to the boat every few minutes, some in doubles, until we had enough for dinner (8 fish total). All were caught at around 30 feet on the downrigger, going 1.5-2.0 mph.

The only pics I took today were of the campsites. All of the sites were occupied so we tried to give the campers some space and not get too close.
