With the smoke cover, started off pounding the west shallow shoreline thinking that's where they'll be. Kind of wavy with surface wind here. Burned and slowed a swimbait for a while. Pitched DS here and there that I could. Getting a lot of grass and slimey crud on my lures in the shallows. Not getting any bites in the shallows, so I started fishing out deeper. Fan cast the DS into about 16' of open water and get a bite and pull in a 12" SMB. Get another one not too far away in a little bit deeper water. Tossed DS onto a corner of a deep dock and pull in another ~12-13" SMB. Figured time to change up and move farther up the lake.

Going to check out Farthole, but I saw a boat working the bank towards that direction, so I keep going. The water is much calmer the further north you go, so I stopped off at a deep point. 1st cast into about 20' of water, I feel a thump on my DS. Set the hook and make it feels like a beast compared to all the other ones earlier. I see it surface and it's a decent LMB. It had a bigger buddy following it too. I wasn't horsing the fish. Barely applying any pressure. This LMB was pretty sluggish and didnt put on much of a fight. When I got it into the net, it's pretty skinny. Looks like a post-spawn bass. I've never caught a LMB from this point before, so that was a nice surprise. Estimating about 1.5#, maybe 1.75#. Just dropped the fish into the water and getting ready to put another lure on when I saw a boat coming from the north. As it got closer, I could tell it was AMX. Waved at him and he stopped by for a bit to chat.

After we got done, I wanted to catch that bigger LMB. 1st cast back into the hole and feel the line tighten up as it hit bottom. Set the hook and fish on! Feels like another nice fish. Strong fighter, but managed to net it too. 2.82# SMB. Nice. Stayed at the hole for a bit making fan casts and get another 2.68# SMB that was so fat and swollen, in deeper water ~25'.

Started drifting along the shoreline and caught maybe 7 or 8 more #1 or smaller fish in a short span. Depth ranged from 16' to almost 30' along this path. Should change my name to the Dink Slayer. Or maybe I should name the boat that, LOL.

Figure I'll check out Farthole really quick. Made a handful of casts without even a nibble on DS. The water was very still here and I could see a bunch of surface activity. Tiny fry and fingerlings doing whatever they do on the surface. Looked like rain drops. Threw a soft jerkbait into the cluster but nada.

Found another 2# SMB with another dink on another point.

Got near 4# hole and spent about 20 mins there with only 1 nibble.

'Dink Slayer'

It's not the BOAT'S fault.

(BIG devil's smilie face'

HaHaHa That is a nice name. Mine was 'expensive perch boat' for a few weeks after I first bought it.

The other boat was still too close to the fart hole yesterday so I didn't fish it. Got a few in that location today, nothing over 2.87.

I haven't landed many perch this year. Quite surprising actually. It must be back I'm not setting the hook on the nibbles as much as I use to. Probably missing some nice fish bc of that too.

And that gps number is where we thought it was. Caught 3 there today, first fish from there in years.

I might have seen your BIG Largie today. I was down the shoreline, heard a metallic bang, looked up and then a BIG fish jumped out of the water about 15" to 18". Couldn't be sure if it was a biggie or smallie, but it was at least 4 pounds, maybe 5. By the time I got there she was gone and so no biting.

last time I saw it, it was 4.40#. Should be fattening up for the fall. Probably pushing close to 5 now.

This wasn't in the area of your 4 pound hole. It was in that other area that we met the other day. Where you saw the big biggie following the little one you had on your line. :-)
