With all the fire smoke covering the area, I thought it might be a great time to try some late evening fishing at Martha Lake (AM). I have been fishing this lake primarily in the morning with limited success. I just started fishing with my new kayak since this May and this was my third trip to Martha Lake (AM).

I fished from about 5:45 pm to 7:15 pm. I utilized my recently new baitcaster reel and rod set-up for lily pad fishing - braided 30-lb test. Rigged a Yum Christie Critter, watermelon green pumpkin, creature bait with a Texas Rig and 1/4 -oz bullet weight with a bobber stopper. Cast on lily pads and under dock structures. Let the lure sink and raise and drag. About 40 minutes into fishing I flipped the lure under a dock structure on the southwest side of the lake. I cast right next to one of the pilings and felt a good tug. Set the hook and starting reeling! This is my personal best at this lake with only my third visit. Weighted 1lb-3oz and just over 13-inches. Fished for about another hour without any other bites except for smaller fish biting on the creature bait.

Nice work. That lake is worth your time to figure out as it holds some nice fish. If I may make one point... anything 'man-made' in water is cover, not structure. Think like a bass :)
Structure are the lines you read on a topo map, Everything else is cover to a bass. It makes a difference.
