Our final day fishing with Tofino Fishing. Our guides Rob and Gibson have shown us some of the amazing fishing to be had in this area of the Pacific Northwest. We met at 7am and discussed what we wanted to try for today, our last day out with them. After mulling over the various options we settled on trying for the big brute cohos that we know are swiming these waters. (it was tough to pass on the big brute lings that are swimming these waters, LOL).

We fished inshore today meaning all coho were fair game (B.C. does not clip hatchery fish) and today the chinook were off limits. So of course the first nice fish of the day was a 15 pound chinook - go figure!

We trolled an area not too far from the town of Tolfino, in a shallow inlet of around 30-70 feet deep. Two rods off downriggers, suspended depths of 20-45 feet deep. Flashers, flies, thin spoons and a bucktail in our prop wash made for a nice assortment of set ups. Yes, the buchtail did get a fish!

In addition to the fishing action we got to see a lot of cool nature today. Grey whales, an orca pod, dolphines, eagles, bears - we saw a lot of nature!

The fishing wasn't red hot but we did eventually get angler limits plus one for the guide. We also got more cool underwater footage for a future NWFR TV and YouTube video. The coho in these parts are HUGE! Most of what we caught were 8-10 pounders with a couple in the 14 pound range. Only a couple "dinks" of 6 pounds. Rob and Gibson expect the winning coho for next weeks coho derby to be pushing 20 pounds. That is a monster coho! Those 14 pound fish were jaw-dropping, I can only imagine what a 20 pound coo looks like!

After fishing with Tofino Fishing for the past three days I can heartly endorse them as a great charter to go out on. And the town of Tofino is awesome. If you can get a chance to visit this wonderful destination do it!

Thanks to TofinoFishing.com for a wonderful three days and to Rob and Gibson for their expert guiding. Thanks also to Trilogy Fish Company for the expert food processing of our fish, and Jamies Rainforest Inn for the excellent accomodations.
