Fished Potholes for the first time in months. Tried trolling slow death, flicker shads, spinners, etc., but the walleye weren't having any of it. I did manage to catch a trout, blue gills, crappie, and bass, but not walleye. As I trolled across a sunken hill the water went from 30-8' and one of the rods bent over and I thought it was a decent fish as I could feel it tugging back. Reeled it up and it turned out to be a old pull tab Olympia beer can. Can was made of metal and rusted through and filled with mud. Because it dragged across the bottom it felt like a fish as the can bounced and caught the sandy bottom. That old can sure put up a good fight.
Will give it another try in a week or so, hopefully the walleye will co-operate.
