Hit Beaver over the weekend.....first time there with my Pontoon. Was told to head to the end of the lake which I did in search of the fat stocked Rainbow's.

Did well both days with Saturday being more active. Trolled 90% of the time as I am not into Powerbiat fishing unless it's my only choice. (Dead of winter) Trolled a fly rod and spinning rod with the spinning rod producing big time with Yakima Baits Flatfish. Today, I doubled up on the Flatfish and again it produced. I trolled counterclockwise the whole time and had plenty of takes but with a barbless singe Siwash hook, some came off quickly. Speeds varied for take downs. Strikes without a hook up got a quick speed increase that produced a strong strike and hook up. I also had a double which can be quite difficult to handle! All fish were released with the hook popping free many times after I put the fish in the net.

Will be giving it a go the next few night as the weather seems to shaping up well. Maybe flies at dusk might be the ticket. I should have my Orange Simms jacket on, so if you spot me come on over and say hi!

Interesting lake....I should have tried it earlier.

Anyone ever fish the small lake at the far end? I did not venture that way, but love these little puddles.

I too, am curious about fishing opportunity in smaller portion of Beaver at South end. Do these large Brood stock Rainbows put up much of a battle?

Yes they put up a great fight. I trolled flies Saturday and had 1 good strike but couldn't connect. I saw 1 boat pulling them in 1 after another and they were fighting hard. If only people would release them to get bigger instead of fish it out 1st week of stocking imagine the fishery it could be.

Yes, quite a good fight from the majority of them.....they are very strong fish. I released all of mine.

Went out yesterday at 3pm and it was very slow. Only one fish and a few other strikes. A few seemed to me to be after flies at the far end (major splash) and later towards dusk within 200 yards of the launch, there was some slight top water action going on in the middle of the lake. Possible food just under the water.

I think I'll try on the next stocking, hopefully less rain next time.
