Wanted to get one last trip in on my "home" kokanee lake before it closes. As expected numerous spawners could be seen cruising the shoreline and near the surface. Hoping to avoid the "Marvin the Martian" fish I headed out towards the middle lake and drop my gear down to about 15' using a 1.5 oz cannonball 75' behind the kayak. Within a few minutes the first chrome fish came knocking. This was followed by two successive doubles in the next 20 minutes putting a quick less than 1 hour limit in the boat.

I was running pink and galaxy UV microhoochies from Paulina Peak Tackle with a pink/UV Big I dodgers and a new kokanee dodger from Brad's Killer Fishing Gear, which is nothing more than a salmon wobbler with UV tape. I tipped hoochies with corn soaked in bloody tuna oil from pro-cure.

I am going to miss this lake until next spring but I'll continue to pursue kokanee on open and hard water over the next few months. I get a lot of questions here and on other sites about my fishing kayak. I put together a video on how I rig my kayak for kokanee trolling.
