We fished Rock Lake yesterday. Initially headed to the north end; but, as was reported earlier this week, that area is full of small planted 'bows. So, we decided to work the eastern shoreline about a mile south of the north end.

We were trolling behind two downriggers and then a third rod that was trolling near the surface with a 1.5 ounce trolling weight. This surface rod, took the bulk of our fish. (We finished with seven keepers for the smoker. Ranging in size from 12 inches to 16 inches. Three browns and four 'bows.)

Trolling speed was typically 2.2 mph.

The most effective lure was the 2.8" OG1 in the perch color. This was followed by a 1.8" OG1 in fluorescent pink.

As I scrolled through the pics I kept thinking I know that boat, well, one just like it anyway. We really like our ProV it has been a fish catching machine. Nice browns, have always like their color. Thanks for your report. :-)

Thanks guys for the report, nice fish, beautiful looking day, and great picture of that Pro V. How was the launch for getting in and out? Brother has 18 ft. Sportsman and we would love to get out on Rock, as long as it wasn't to much of a hassle, thanks again for the report.

!st put on some waders - take a pole to find the bottom (luckily the water is very clear) - walk away from the ramp until you find the drop-off, that
will be the point you don't want your trailer wheels to go beyond and hopefully your trailer is low enough that the boat is somewhat floating, then
you can drive it off and on the trailer - fortunately your sportsman sits pretty high in the water which should make the launch a little easier - you just
don't want you wheels to go over the drop off. It takes two to get the job done, but there were a couple of 18' sportsman and one 20' sea runner
the day we were there - and a couple of pretty heavy plastic ones too - wind will complicate the task though.

Outtheresomewhere-- Thanks for the launch info, We know first hand about the drop off as we have dealt with it before. Water level and that drop-off pretty much dictate what kind of day you'll have at that so called launch area with the larger boats. Our 12 and 14 ft. boats work okay for that lake, but just not as comfortable for us old boys that need heat and shelter that we get with our larger boats. Take care and stay safe.

I'm with you guys on a 12-14' boat for the smaller lakes and unimproved launch ramps - like you guys, closing in on 80 and
need /like a little more comfort these days - my fish'in buddy (wife) got new hips a few years back and can't go where there
is no dock so wind up doing a lot of fishing solo - 18' north river solo at Rock is impossible, so have been cruising craigslist
for something smaller - I used to think old age and treachery would overcome youth and exuberance, but not so sure anymore.
