Decided to give Lake Wash. a try for some perch Sat. morning. The lake was very foggy and had to use my compass to get to the desired location. Once we got to our destination, we started to look for a school of perch in about 40' of water. After zig zagging around for some time we finally found a good school and dropped our anchor and lines. We had fish on immediately and it was non stop until boat wakes moved us off the school. after some more searching we got back on the school and continued catching perch nonstop. We quit at about 2:00 with the most and biggest perch I have ever caught anywhere.
We had one line going down and the other coming up with a fish on. My wife did most of the catching as I was busy putting fish in the cooler and baiting the hooks. My wife usually doesn't get to exited about fishing, but she actually enjoyed this fast action and kept on fishing while I prepared the boat to leave, and caught a couple more nice ones with little or no bait on the jig. We actually had them biting on the split shot sinker after the line broke and the hook was lost.
Only regret I have is that I didn't have my Grand kids along to enjoy this type of fishing. The fog burnt off quickly and it turned out to be a beautiful day with no wind. Just what you want to fish perch.

Good for you. I call those humpys because of the big hump behind their head.

Those are fantastic! Did you mark any other schools? May go this weekend and will start around 40 feet looking for them.

We didn't need to look for any other schools. After about 3 hr of rapid fishing, we had more fish than what I wanted to clean. The gig bodies we were using were basically grey with some extra stuff on them. I sweetened the pot with a small piece of perch on the hook. A little bigger piece seemed to keep the smaller ones away. They probably couldn't get it into their mouth easily, and by then the bigger ones would be taking over. Well, good luck. They will go deeper as the water cools. If you have a side scanner, which I don't, that would really be helpful to locate the schools.
