Well with it being the last day of the river being open I figured I would brave the rain and head to my spot. Started twitching a solid black twitching jig and after 10 or so casts boom, fish on, nice bright hen. If was pretty consistent from there on, hooked 8 brought home 3, these B run fish are the pick of the litter when it comes to fight and acrobatics. It was an absolute pleasure. No waders just a goat path by the river, almost like fishing the peninsula. Tight lines!

I'm going to venture a guess that this was in the Skykomish watershed where wild fish are off limits per an October emergency rule update. Glad to see a nice push of fish, but they should have been released if part of that system. I'm not sure of many other rivers which allow wild retention (or in this case used to). Sounds like good catching otherwise.

Well bad guess. yesterday was the last day of the season for salmon retention on this river, I stay away from the north end rivers. When you fish systems enough you don’t have to travel far to catch fish. Tight lines. Sky is a long drive for fish.

Right on. Glad to see some other healthy wild populations. My assumption was based on the vast majority of posts on this site being that of the Wallace (during coho season). And it's one of likely few rivers that allow a 3 fish retention and still one of the only systems I know if which 'used' to allow wild retention. So, I can see someone easily not checking the updates and making the mistake.

Well done patrick, yeah the B run is my favorite. crappy weather, less people, bitier fish, better fights, solitude... Its glorius, although up here in bc our season is all year for river fishing. Thanks for the write up.

Thank you Jonb, I’ve read your reports and you put some bruisers on the bank. it really is a treat to be able to hook into some bright fish. I never stop counting my blessing on these rivers this time of year, Those of us who love the pursuit more than the action are few and far between.

The jouney is definately more important than the destination some of my bests days spent were catching 1 or 2 fish, but finding new water exploring etc. Nature is awesome. Your right its not always about the catching, its nice to catch too though lol.
