I fished Fernan for the first time this season from 10:00 am to 3:30 PM. It was a great day on the ice. I fished for perch in 19 FOW on the North end on turnout 3 using glow hooks tipped with worm or perch eye. I tried a new spoon from VGA called the Tingler. It is a glow spoon that I saw used on Cascade Lake and it worked awesome. I used my Marcum Showdown and had action the entire time on the ice. Ice was clear 3 1/2 inches with 1/2 inch of snow / ice. Very solid with no cracking when I walked on it. I felt very safe. I spoke with a few other fisherman on the ice and they caught cat fish and bluegills as well across the lake on the South side. I heard of no trout caught today and did not see any tip ups out searching for Pike. I cleaned 17 perch in the 8-10 inch range and tossed back another 8-10.
