The Tin Guppy finished the year in style. My son and I fished out of Lincoln to close out the year and had a really good day. We launched around 9:30 and it was blowing and rough so we headed down towards Sterling Point to hide from the wind and were very successful with that. Almost no wind and eventually the sun came out and thawed out the water on the windows and curtain from the bumpy ride across. The Guppy is not known for a smooth ride in waves. Things were pretty slow until after 12 and then we had a pretty steady bite for a couple of hours. Finished the day with 10 in the boat, nothing special just nice husky Roosevelt Rainbows. Never hooked a wild one which seemed odd. One rod with a Perch Kekeda accounted for most of the fish. Was it the fly, the flasher, the side of the boat or a combination of all. Always mysterious to me when no matter what I do with the other rods one hooks most all the fish.
A coyote had a little mule deer doe pinned on the little Rock Island with navigation marker on it. She was stuck there for hours, let the coyote know I disapproved but he didn't seem to do more that get out of sight. Hope she makes it.
Hope everyone had a good year and an even better one ahead.
Mark

Hi Mark. Way to finish out the year. Thanks for sharing; we'll have to get out together on Rosie. Happy New Year, tight lines Alan

Nice report Mark. We had the same experience with a deer and coyote at Rufus a few years back. We hung around until the deer made it to shore but I suspect the coyote eventually ran down the exhausted animal. Hope the Tin Guppy has another good year. Jim

What's up with Sprague? Is it iced up and done for the year?

Thanks for another nice report! Coyotes are out in abundance this year, had two in our back yard just after 10pm and our Lab alerted on them. Was cool to watch them in the moon's reflection off the snow.

I wondered if there weren't more we couldn't see, seems like on that ground she should have been able to give one dog the slip but it only takes one mistake to make things difficult.

Nice you were able to get in calm water and get some sun. Makes for a nice day of fishing. Thanks for using the flies once again and letting us know how you did with them. We hit 'me hard with our perch last time out too. Great report and thanks for sharing! Take care, Dave
