Since the Addy-Cedonia "shortcut" is a no go for getting to Fort Spokane with a boat, a buddy and I fished out of Kettle falls.

Put in a daylight with a pretty good chop out of the South, so ducked in the Colville River bay.
Had a pink Kekeda fly tipped with shoepeg, 25 feet on a downrigger, long lined a orange Rapala and a dark green Flatfish.

Made a couple laps in the bay with one take down. Sun came out and wind died down so headed out the center trolling south.

The downrigger went off, Finally, a rainbow. Got close to the boat, What the....... It's a lost wild Kokanee.

Never had a one fish day be good, but anytime a Kokanees is in the boat it is. Water was 39 degrees.

Nice! Congratulations on the elusive fish, and a wild at that. Thanks for using the pink Kekeda fly and sharing your trip. Hopefully we start seeing them more! Take care- Dave

What was I thinking! All we catch is wild. Maybe it was wishful thinking on my part that we could keep more than two of the wild fish.

Thanks for the report Weld. I have been hearing of a few being caught randomly. Some smaller clipped ones too.

It kind of sounds like hit and miss. A friend of a friend has caught a couple Kokes with leaded line down at Sterling point. Have you been out?

Haven't caught a lot of kokanee in Roosevelt but all those I have, or those with me, did catch have all had intact adipose fins. Encouraging to see a few being caught but they seem to be really spread out.

There are no kokanee that far north this time of year! HAHA! Great catch. How deep were you running the downriggers when you got the kokanee?

That's why I figured he must of been lost. About 75 feet back, 25 feet deep.
