First voyage of 2018 for the Tin Guppy. We finished 2017 in style but are struggling coming out of the gate this year. Launched out of Spring Canyon on Sunday after giving Banks a try on Saturday which turned out to be a complete skunk. At SC we had a take down right after we got the lines out but never stuck at all. Eventually picked one up down by Crescent Bay but it turned out to be a wild RB which we safely released. Ran up to Keller and tried both below and above the ferry, no bites. Spent another night in the motel and then headed up to Lincoln where I had done well on 12/31. Went for nearly 2 hours without a bite and then got a double. Now get this it shows how fussy these fish are. One rod had leaded line with a pink Kekeda on a 10 inch leader behind a red Fast Limit dodger and the other line was down 10 feet on the DR with a perch Kekeda fly on a 2 foot leader behind a red and green sling blade. I guess those two were just ready for anything. The only bites we had all day. After reading the other reports I wish I would have started at Lincoln and finished at Banks. Oh well, we'll get them next time and at least the skunk is off the boat for the year. Did see a nice little bunch of Bighorns which is always fun.
Stay after them, it's the right thing to do.
