After wowing the crowds at the Western Washington Sportsman Show, Jeff took Pepe out on the 30th to make sure the Kokanee were still there, then took fishing legends Mike Hall and Bobby Loomis out to work on some gear. The bite was on and the results speak for themselves. Mack's Chrome Double D dodgers in front of their squid rigs baited with Bloody Tuna flavored Pro Cure were the formula for success. Depths varied a lot. A good quality sonar unit really helps so you can run your gear right on top of them. Kokanee are famous for being finicky about changing depths to bite lures. This is a great time to get some uncrowded winter fishing in before the spring crowds hit. This will be compounded as the Mill Bay launch will be closed for over a month starting on April 2nd.

Thanks for the report! I will be over in your neck of the woods president's day weekend and I'm wondering if you have a report on the ice thickness at Roses lake. I'm sure it's thinning fast with this warmer weather, hopefully we get a cold snap before then!

Ice is currently too thin to fish on. There is not enough open water around the edges to fish from shore or a boat. Anton

Thank you. I think the house we are staying at has a dock, so at least we may be able to punch through the ice and wet a line while staying safe. Keep up the good work over there.
