Finally got a break in the weather so headed for MA10 to see if we could find the blackmouth. Had a great day.
Fished Manchester area for the first time. Looks like a lot of opportunity down there and its about the same distance from Shilshole as Kingston. Caught the fish in the pic (bout 7lbs) and a few sublegals on the south end of the bay, outgoing tide. Trolled that area and Blake Isl. No more hookups so headed up to Kingston.
When we got to the north end of Kingston started putting gear out and didnt realize we had drifted into shallow water, appx 45 feet. Put the gear down anyway and much to my surprise it was WHAMMO two fish on!!!!! Both were significant fish. What a circus!!! When was the last time you fished for blackmouth and had a double on? Probably never for me. Got both fish to within 10 feet of the boat and they both spit the hook!! Haha toooo funny. We looked at each other, shed a few tears and went back to fishing. Just the way it goes. Caught a few more shakers and called it a day.
The hot setup as usual was the Old Goat 2.8" OG2 in pink/green/white behind a Red Racer flasher. We tried a lot of other setups but the dang OG2 is just hot. Fish are feeding on candlefish.
Tight lines
Randy
