I decided to go back to Offut lake again and take along my friend Warren. We arrived to the lake at about 8:30 in the morning and were the first boat to launch. The water temperature was 45 degrees when we started and it was a beautiful clear day on the lake today. We started trolling at 1.6 mph and had our first bite within 5 minutes of getting the lines in the water. However the fish did not get hooked or pop the rod loose from the rigger. The next couple hours the fish seemed to have complete lockjaw. Once 11:30 rolled around the fish seemed to wake up (water temp 46.5) or get used to the sun, not sure which. They decided to start biting and that made the day more exciting. We pretty much caught all our fish between 15-19 feet deep. Warren and I both lost a few but managed to get our limits by 1:30. We caught fish on a rainbow needlefish, some rainbow trout, and chrome/blue pattern crankbaits today.
