I often take my Hobie Outback off of the beaches around Vashon Island to fish for flatfish, specifically Sand Dab. These are easy to catch but reside in deep water in the winter that is off-limits. However, they can be caught in less than 120 feet in certain areas, especially off of Leisabuela on the west side. Rock Sole are everywhere but generally full of worms. I use bait/lure combinations of squid and small hoochies on a wire bottom fishing rig to minimize bycatach of Dogfish. I have also been targeting Starry Flounder, but haven’t had any luck. Anyone have any advice on these?
